THE HOUSE

The house

The manor house, a listed historic monument, was built in 1499 for Brother Niclaus Meiger, Commander of the Order of the Teutonic Knights of Strasbourg. From 2022 to 2024, we have completely renovated it to welcome you.

Preserving the charm of the past while offering you perfect comfort was our priority.

Nestling against the rampart in the heart of the medieval town of Boersch, La Commanderie is a haven of peace, enclosed and protected from prying eyes.

We have refurbished the premises to offer you 4 types of accommodation, ranging from studios to apartments. The flat for 4 people, or more, as everything is modular !

The garden
and orchard

Sheltered from view, the garden invites you to relax.

In the benevolent shade of the ramparts, you can enjoy a game of pétanque to the gentle lapping of the stream. Beyond the little bridge is the meadow orchard, its colours changing with the seasons.

About

Committed to our regional heritage and its preservation, we searched for a long time to find a meaningful place to settle our family.
We pushed open the gate for the first time on that August day in 2018, pulled the bell on the pedestrian gate and entered the inner courtyard. The magic of the place was already working. We realised, feverishly, that we had found our home, our dream, our life project, our life change, our turning point, a 180° turn.

It took 2 and a half years to save the building. The renovation had to meet our criteria of sustainability, energy savings and respect for the environment. All this was achieved by using local craftsmen who were able to preserve a remarkable heritage.

Not to be outdone, the garden and pre-orchard have received special attention: manual clearing, scrub clearance, pruning and weeding, assisted by our three dwarf goats, were needed over many seasons to restore the house to its former glory.

We've organised the house in the spirit of slowtourism, to give you the chance to savour every moment to the full. Here you'll find peace and escape, an immersion in Alsatian nature and culture, and an authentic discovery of our heritage, all at your own pace.
If you prefer, you can take the easy route by bike or on foot. We'll be happy to advise you on how to explore the region at your leisure, in harmony with its environment.

We can't wait to share this happy place with you, this place we love so much, and to welcome you here. We look forward to welcoming you and meeting you.
